Hair Serum Nanoemulsion Loaded Clove Essential Oil Formulation For Androgenetic Alopecia: Characterization And Hair Growth Activity

This study investigates a hair serum nanoemulsion loaded with clove essential oil (CEO) for treating androgenetic alopecia (AA). CEO, containing 60.72% eugenol, has anti-androgen properties beneficial for AA. The optimal formulation, determined using the D-Optimal Design method, includes 10.63% CEO, 67.5% cremophor RH 40, and 21.87% propylene glycol, with a droplet size of 31.26 nm and a pH of 5.55. The formulation is physically stable, non-irritating to the skin, and effectively promotes hair growth, as evidenced by increased hair length and weight in the treatment group. This suggests that clove oil nanoemulsion hair serum could be a promising treatment for alopecia areata.
