A Clinico-Social Study of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in Women of Reproductive Age Group at Tertiary Care Centre

The study on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in 290 women of reproductive age at a tertiary care center revealed a high prevalence of PCOS, particularly in women aged 21-30, with a mean age of 22.74 years. The majority of participants were from a middle socioeconomic background, living in urban areas, and leading sedentary lifestyles. Key clinical symptoms observed included oligomenorrhea (82.4%), weight gain (66.9%), hirsutism (30.7%), acne (21.7%), infertility (17.2%), and obesity (21.4%). The study highlights the significant impact of PCOS on young women, emphasizing the need for awareness and management strategies.
