TLDR Experts agree on guidelines to treat common hair loss effectively.
The Spanish Trichology Group of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venererology (AEDV) developed a consensus statement on the management of androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a condition that can be challenging to treat due to the wide range of available treatments, many of which lack clinical trial evidence. The consensus was developed using the Delphi method, involving 34 dermatologists who agreed on 138 (86%) of the 160 proposed items. These items were divided into four blocks of recommendations: general considerations, pharmacologic treatment, procedures and hair transplant, and special cases. This consensus statement, based on expert opinion and available scientific evidence, aims to guide professionals in the routine management of AGA.

The conversation discusses the potential of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids, like oleic and linoleic acid, as an additional treatment for hair loss, which may inhibit the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to DHT and promote hair growth. Users humorously suggest using oils topically and discuss other hair loss treatments, but the main focus is on the science behind fatty acids and their role in hair health.
