Clinical effects of non-ablative and ablative fractional lasers on various hair disorders: a case series of 17 patients

In 2013, a study was conducted on 17 patients with various uncommon hair disorders to assess the effects of non-ablative and ablative fractional lasers (NAFL and AFL). The study found that 70.6% of the patients showed a clinical response to the laser treatments, with a mean clinical improvement score of 2.2 and a mean patient satisfaction score of 2.5. However, patients with long-standing ophiasis, surgical scar-induced secondary cicatricial alopecia, and pubic hypotrichosis did not respond to the treatments. The study concluded that NAFL and AFL promoted hair growth in certain cases without significant side effects, but more research was needed to confirm their efficacy and safety.
