TLDR Clascoterone cream 1% is effective and well-tolerated for treating acne and other related conditions.
This case series examined the use of clascoterone cream 1% in 10 patients with acne vulgaris from August 2023 to May 2024. The treatment was found to be effective and well-tolerated across various severities, ages, genders, and ethnicities. Clascoterone cream 1% showed clinical improvement as a monotherapy, in combination with other treatments, and as maintenance therapy to prevent acne relapse. Additionally, it addressed other conditions such as hirsutism, hidradenitis suppurativa, retinoid-induced dermatitis, androgenetic alopecia, folliculitis, and laser-induced acne flares. This real-world experience supports the cream's effectiveness, tolerability, and versatility for diverse patients with acne vulgaris.

Clascoterone in Winlevi, a topical AR antagonist, is being re-examined due to concerns about HPA axis suppression in adolescents, but it's unlikely to be banned for adult use in androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The European Medicines Agency recommended refusing Winlevi for acne vulgaris, but this may not affect Breezula's approval for AGA.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) impacts various skin conditions, including Androgenetic alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis, by causing overactivity in sebaceous glands. Topical medications Tacrolimus and Clobetasol can reduce these inflammatory conditions, and treatments like RU58841, Minoxidil, and Finasteride may also be beneficial.
