TLDR Citrulline was found in hair follicle proteins for the first time.
The article discusses the discovery of citrulline in the fibrous protein of the inner root sheaths of hair follicles, marking the first recorded occurrence of citrulline in an animal protein. Previously, citrulline was identified in the protein of the red alga, Chondrus crispus. This finding contributes to the understanding of amino acid composition in hair follicle proteins.
