TLDR Mouse Scube3 affects teeth, tongue, vibrissae, and eye development, but not facial structure or limb growth.
This document describes the characterization of a mouse Scube3 reporter line, which was obtained to analyze the function of Scube3 during development. The study characterizes the expression pattern of Scube3 in mouse embryos and investigates the phenotype of homozygous Scube3m1Dge/H; tm1Dge/H mice. Scube3 is expressed in the developing teeth, tongue, vibrissae, and eye, with considerable overlap between Scube3m1Dge/H reporter expression and Shh transcription in the developing palate. Despite the prominent expression of Scube3 in the early facial processes and limb buds, the craniofacial and axial skeleton of Scube3m1Dge/H; tm1Dge/H mice was normal, and microCT analysis of the molar dentition in adult Scube3m1Dge/H; tm1Dge/H mice demonstrated normal gross morphology of the cusps and roots of these teeth when compared with wild type.

      community Expectations control for SCUBE3

SCUBE3, a protein linked to hair growth in moles, was discovered over 25 years ago and is being developed by Amplifica for potential hair loss treatment. Concerns exist about SCUBE3's association with cancer, as it is a protein that promotes cell growth, which could potentially trigger cancer development if used for hair growth therapy.

community Prediction: Scube3 is never coming out

      in Research/Science  7 upvotes 10 months ago
Scube3, a potential hair loss treatment, is unlikely to be released because it was given to a startup company, Amplifica, which may go bankrupt and fail to bring the treatment to market. Amplifica is prioritizing other treatments over Scube3, which could lead to financial loss and the end of Scube3's development.
