TLDR COVID-19 vaccines can cause mild to moderate skin reactions, mostly after the first dose.
This case series from 2023 documented 18 instances of cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADRs) following COVID-19 vaccination in India, mainly with the Covishield vaccine. The study involved 12 females and 6 males, with reactions occurring between 6 hours and 20 days post-vaccination. Common reactions included acute urticaria and pityriasis rosea-like lesions, while others involved leukocytoclastic vasculitis, herpes zoster, psoriasis exacerbations, eczema exacerbation, herpes simplex virus reactivation, and a local reaction termed "COVID arm." The study emphasized the importance of recognizing these mostly mild to moderate CADRs for effective management, despite the lack of definitive evidence linking them directly to the vaccines.
