TLDR Boswellia sacra helped improve pilonidal sinus symptoms in one case.
This case study explores the use of Boswellia sacra (Olibanum) as a potential treatment for pilonidal sinus disease (PNS), a condition characterized by chronic inflammation and high recurrence rates. Traditional surgical treatments for PNS often involve significant morbidity and long recovery times. In this specific case, a 17-year-old female experienced rapid resolution of PNS symptoms with the use of both topical and oral B. sacra, alongside diet and lifestyle changes. While the findings are promising, they are based on a single case and may not be generalizable. Further research is needed to evaluate the efficacy of B. sacra as an alternative treatment for PNS.
