TLDR The hydrogel quickly stops bleeding and helps heal infected wounds.
The document presents a study on a bioinspired multifunctional injectable hydrogel (CQCS@gel) developed for hemostasis and infected wound management. The hydrogel was fabricated using two building blocks, CQCS and dibenzaldehyde-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (DB-PEG2000). The CQCS@gel demonstrated a proper gelation time of approximately 17.6 seconds, allowing for in situ sol-gel transition at wound sites and preventing unwanted gelation during the injecting process. The hydrogel exhibited strong tissue-adhesiveness, antibacterial, antioxidant, self-healing, and pH-responsive properties. The study concluded that the multifunctional CQCS@gel realized quick hemostasis for various bleeding wounds and accelerated the closure process of MRSA-infected full-thickness skin wounds. The hydrogel also showed biocompatibility and biodegradability.
