TLDR BBR-SA nanomedicine is a safe and effective treatment for breast cancer.
The study introduces a novel nanomedicine, BBR-SA, formed by the self-assembly of berberine and sinapic acid, designed for synergistic chemotherapy against breast cancer. Utilizing π-π stacking, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic forces, BBR-SA exhibits high drug-loading capacity and excellent water dispersibility. In a murine model with 40 mice, BBR-SA significantly inhibited tumor growth and enhanced therapeutic efficacy compared to berberine or sinapic acid alone, without causing significant systemic toxicity after 28 days of treatment. These findings suggest BBR-SA as a safe, effective, and biocompatible strategy for breast cancer treatment, highlighting its potential to overcome drug resistance and improve therapeutic outcomes.
