TLDR Baldness does not affect vitamin D levels in men.
In a study involving 296 healthy middle-aged and older men, researchers examined the relationship between the degree of baldness, as classified by the Hamilton-Norwood scale, and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD) levels. Despite considering factors such as age, time of year, exercise, sunscreen use, skin type, and hat-wearing habits, the study concluded that there was no significant difference in 25-OHD levels across varying degrees of baldness (P=0.60). This finding suggests that baldness does not affect vitamin D status in men and does not support the hypothesis that baldness could have an evolutionary advantage related to vitamin D synthesis.
