TLDR Ayurvedic treatment successfully managed alopecia areata without side effects.
This clinical case report discusses the Ayurvedic approach to managing Alopecia Areata, known as Indralupta in Ayurvedic texts. The condition is attributed to the obstruction of hair follicles by aggravated Pitta and Vata, along with Kapha-Rakta, creating an environment conducive to micro-organisms that inhibit hair regeneration. While modern treatments like corticosteroids and immunosuppressants are common, they pose significant side effects. The report highlights a successful case of treating alopecia areata using Ayurvedic medicine, emphasizing the potential of traditional methods in addressing the psychological and cosmetic impacts of the condition without the adverse effects associated with conventional therapies.
