TLDR Atopic dermatitis severity doesn't worsen during pregnancy for most women.
This study investigated the relationship between atopic dermatitis (AD) severity and its worsening during pregnancy in 211 female patients, with 68 having a history of pregnancy. It found that 17.7% of these women reported worsening AD during pregnancy, which was associated with premenstrual syndrome and food allergies, but not with AD severity or other demographic and health factors. The study highlighted that most women, even those with severe AD, did not experience worsening during pregnancy, although the 17% who did is significant. The study's strengths included a good sample size and diverse population, but it was limited by its single-center design and potential recall bias. Future research is needed to explore effective management strategies for AD during pregnancy.
