TLDR Hair loss linked to prostate enlargement; stress and family history important factors.
A case control study from 5 years ago found a significant association between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men aged 20 years and above. The study included 176 cases of AGA and 117 healthy controls. Emotional stress was identified as a major factor for AGA, and family history of AGA was present in a significantly higher number of patients than controls. However, some studies found no significant association between AGA and BPH. Overall, further research with larger sample sizes is needed to investigate the relationship between BPH and other risk factors with AGA.
