TLDR Art therapy may help reduce anxiety and depression in people with Alopecia Areata.
This study investigates the use of art therapy as a psycho-social intervention for individuals with Alopecia Areata, a condition often linked to psychological issues. Involving 21 participants over 5 years, the study found significant reductions in anxiety and depression, with 12 participants experiencing hair regrowth, though 10 of these also received additional treatments. Art therapy facilitated emotional expression and improved treatment adherence. Despite positive outcomes, the study's small sample size and lack of quantitative measures highlight the need for further research. The therapy's potential to address emotional and social challenges associated with Alopecia Areata is emphasized.
