Studysummary This study examined argan oil inclusion complexes with β-CD, finding that these complexes improve the antibacterial efficacy, uniformity, and mechanical performance of hair treatment formulations while enhancing the durability of bleached hair, suggesting their potential as stable and effective cosmetic ingredients. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
This study explored the encapsulation of argan oil into β-cyclodextrin using evaporation and coprecipitation methods to enhance its stability and usability in hair treatments. Both methods successfully formed inclusion complexes, improving the solubility of argan oil in aqueous media and demonstrating enhanced antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus. The hair treatment improved hair surface properties and showed good coating performance, particularly in treated bleached hair samples. The encapsulation efficiency was higher for the evaporation method (68.4%) compared to the coprecipitation method (51.2%), but the latter was preferred for scalability in hair treatment applications. The findings indicate potential for commercial use in cosmetic formulations.
