TLDR Hibiscus root extract reduces inflammation in rats.
The study investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of the aqueous root extract of Hibiscus rosa sinesis using a dose of 250 mg/kg body weight in carrageenan-induced paw edema in Swiss albino rats. The extract produced a statistically significant and dose-dependent inhibition of edema compared to control groups, with a significant (p<0.01) reduction in rat paw edema at all assessment times. This suggested that the aqueous extract of Hibiscus rosa sinesis roots had notable anti-inflammatory properties.
