TLDR Finasteride works best for hair loss when started early and is effective for most people.
The retrospective study analyzed 336 outpatients with androgenic alopecia (AGA) to identify factors influencing the efficacy of oral finasteride. The study found that AGA was closely linked to genetic and psychoneural factors. Finasteride was effective in 73% of patients, with the course of treatment and disease duration being significant factors for its efficacy. Patients generally responded to finasteride within three months, and the treatment was more effective and safer when started early in the disease course.
