The Polish Dermatological Society has provided diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations for androgenetic alopecia, the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women. Trichoscopy is the basic diagnostic procedure, and minoxidil and finasteride are the two drugs approved for treatment. However, there are significantly more therapeutic options available, and the article presents algorithms recommended for the management of androgenetic alopecia in women and men. The document recommends finasteride and dutasteride as effective treatments for androgenetic alopecia in both men and women, with dutasteride being more effective but potentially causing more adverse effects. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has shown promise in promoting hair growth, while spironolactone may also be effective but more research is needed.
