This study investigated the perceptions of individuals with and without androgenetic alopecia (AGA) towards hair loss. The study found that individuals with AGA differed from those without AGA in terms of their desire for treatment and coping strategies. However, the psychological parameters did not differ significantly between the two groups. The study also found that all participants had similar perceptions concerning AGA, and hair loss was perceived as a natural process. The participants believed that mental state was affected most by hair loss, followed by relationships with the opposite sex. The study concluded that AGA might be viewed as an adaptable condition, and having a shorter hair cut was considered a favorable coping strategy.
