TLDR AAG causes hair loss in many people, with limited treatments like finasteride, minoxidil, light therapy, and hair transplants.
Alopesia androgenetik (AAG) is a progressive hair loss condition affecting nearly 50% of both men and women, characterized by hair miniaturization and specific hair loss patterns. Genetic predisposition and androgen hormones are the underlying causes. Despite its prevalence, treatment options are limited, with finasteride and minoxidil being the primary pharmacological therapies, and light therapy and hair transplantation as non-pharmacological options. AAG can lead to psychological stress and decreased self-confidence in sufferers.
