Alopecia in children and adolescents is a common concern in primary pediatric care with diverse causes, including alopecia areata, tinea capitis, congenital alopecia, trichotillomania, and hair cycle disorders. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial due to the significant psychosocial impact. The review provides a basic diagnostic algorithm to help pediatricians identify the causes of hair loss, conduct essential laboratory tests, and refer patients to appropriate specialists. Management strategies for pediatric alopecia involve interdisciplinary collaboration among pediatricians, dermatologists, endocrinologists, and psychologists.
