TLDR Most children treated with diphencyprone regrew some or all of their hair.
Twelve children with extensive alopecia areata or alopecia totalis were treated with diphencyprone for 5 months to 1 year. Eight of the 12 (67%) regrew scalp hair, with four (33%) achieving complete regrowth. Six months post-treatment, three of the four children with complete regrowth maintained their hair, one lost all regrowth, and one child with initial patchy regrowth achieved complete regrowth off therapy.
