TLDR Adrenal tumors can cause hair loss and high testosterone in women.
This case report discusses a 62-year-old female with male-pattern androgenetic alopecia linked to an adrenal tumor. The patient exhibited hair loss and hirsutism, with a testosterone level of 10.15 ng/ml. An abdominal CT scan revealed bilateral adrenal adenomas, which were treated with laparoscopic radical adrenalectomy. Post-surgery, testosterone levels normalized, and symptoms of androgen excess gradually diminished. The report highlights the importance of investigating new-onset hyperandrogenism in postmenopausal women to exclude androgen-producing tumors.
