TLDR Alexandrite laser hair removal is safe for darker skin tones.
The study conducted from June 1998 to April 1999 evaluated the safety of long-pulsed alexandrite laser hair removal in 150 patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI. The participants, aged 15 to 50 years, included 18 men and 132 women, with a total of 550 treatment sites. Complications were minimal, occurring in only 2% of cases. The study concluded that the long-pulsed alexandrite laser is safe for hair removal in darker skin tones, and prelaser skin testing did not correlate with the incidence of complications.
