TLDR Alexandrite laser hair removal is safe for darker skin tones.
The study evaluated the safety of long-pulsed alexandrite laser hair removal in 150 patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI. Conducted from June 1998 to April 1999, it included 18 men and 132 women, aged 15 to 50, across 550 treatment sites. Complications were minimal, occurring in only 2% of cases. The findings indicated that the long-pulsed alexandrite laser was safe for darker skin tones, and prelaser skin testing did not predict complications.
