How AI Can Support Follicular Lymphoma Diagnosis

    The integration of AI in medicine is advancing with the development of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methods to assist pathologists, particularly in diagnosing Follicular Lymphoma (FL). This study introduces an AI-driven approach to detect and categorize centrocytes and centroblasts, which are challenging to differentiate. The method classifies cells into three categories: centroblasts, centrocytes, or other, achieving an F1-score, precision, and recall of 63%. The study demonstrates the feasibility of detecting centroblasts in whole slide images at x20 resolution, suggesting potential for future applications in follicular lymphoma grading.
