    The study investigated the use of the Acoustic Emission (AE) technique to detect abnormalities in sliding bearings of a hydraulic power generator. The experiment demonstrated that the AE method was effective in identifying the status of the lubricant film in sliding bearings, showing superior sensitivity compared to other diagnostic techniques. Additionally, the integrity of the sliding bearings could be assessed by defining the detected AE signals in terms of their characteristics.
