TLDR Colorectal cancer cells can adapt without losing their traits or drug sensitivity.
This study explored the adaptive self-assembly of colorectal cancer tumoroids in various 3D rebuilding environments (3DREs), finding that while the structural organization varied, the tumoroids maintained their original tumor phenotype and drug sensitivity. Despite differences in aggregation and size variability, gene expression patterns were consistent across all 3DREs, with notable roles for Wnt signaling in morphological changes. The research underscores the importance of assessing the similarity of tumoroids in different 3D environments before experimental use.
