Acute Pancreatitis: An Unusual Presentation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

An 8-year-old girl was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) after presenting with symptoms including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, alopecia, oral ulceration, and glossitis. Elevated serum amylase and lipase levels confirmed pancreatitis, while other tests confirmed SLE. Treatment with glucocorticoids and immunosuppressive therapy led to an improvement in her condition. SLE-related pancreatitis is rare but severe in children, with high mortality if untreated. Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment are crucial. The patient is now stable and in remission with regular follow-up.
