TLDR A patient with both bullous lichen planus and systemic lupus erythematosus showed improvement with treatment.
This case report describes the first documented instance of bullous lichen planus (BLP) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) overlap syndrome in a 48-year-old female, who initially presented with hair loss and skin lesions. Diagnosis was confirmed through histopathology and laboratory tests. Treatment with glucocorticoids, acitretin, and immunosuppressive therapy resulted in significant improvement, including the disappearance of skin lesions and some hair regrowth over two years. The report highlights the importance of multiple biopsies to avoid misdiagnosis and the effectiveness of combined treatments for managing this rare overlap syndrome.
