Acneiform Eruptions with Use of Minoxidil: A Case Report

A 24-year-old experienced improved hair growth using 5% minoxidil, 1 mg finasteride, and dermastamping, but faced side effects like low libido and mild erectile dysfunction. They plan to reduce finasteride dosage after full results and may consider a hair transplant if thinning recurs.

A 24-year-old male has been using 1mg finasteride daily, 5% minoxidil twice a day, ketoconazole shampoo, and dermastamping for hair regrowth, noticing progress in crown thickness and some temple regrowth. He is considering adding oral minoxidil to enhance results but is concerned about potential side effects.

Aminexil, nanoxidil, stemoxydine, and kopexil are discussed as alternatives to minoxidil for hair growth, with concerns about dependence. Minoxidil is noted for its effectiveness in transitioning hair growth phases, but dependence is mainly linked to androgenic alopecia.

Topical finasteride combined with minoxidil is used for hair loss treatment, with some users experiencing fewer side effects compared to oral finasteride. Morr-F, a topical solution, shows better results than minoxidil alone, with minimal adverse effects reported.

The user experienced chronic telogen effluvium and mild male pattern baldness, treated with finasteride, oral minoxidil, and later switched to dutasteride, which stopped excessive hair shedding. Other treatments like low-level laser therapy, hair loss shampoos (except ketoconazole), and supplements were ineffective.

The user has been using topical 5% Minoxidil, 0.1% Finasteride, dermastamping, 2% ketoconazole, and a DHT-blocking shampoo with saw palmetto, caffeine, biotin, and argan oil for hair loss. Despite some baby hair growth on one side, the user is experiencing continued hairline recession and shedding, leading to distress.
