TLDR Hormonal treatments like birth control pills can improve acne in women with excess hair growth and hormone imbalances.
The study on 135 hirsute women aged 14-46 revealed that 63 (46.7%) had acne, with a higher prevalence in those with PCOS. Elevated androgen levels were common, with 79% having increased total testosterone. Hormonal therapy, including oral contraceptives, improved acne and hirsutism in 53.9% of the women after one year. The study highlights the significance of hormonal treatment for acne in women with hirsutism and associated endocrine abnormalities.
