Three-Dimensional Model of Normal Human Dermal Tissue Using Serial Tissue Sections

Peng Liu, Tao Zhang, Yihui Huang
TLDR A detailed 3D model of human skin was created to help develop artificial skin.
This study successfully constructed a high-precision three-dimensional model of normal human dermal tissue using continuous tissue sections and advanced imaging techniques. The model revealed a dermal porosity of 18.96 ± 4.41% and an average pore diameter of 219.29 ± 34.27 μm, with porosity and pore diameter showing a specific distribution pattern across different dermal layers. The findings provide a standardized dataset that can aid in the development of biomimetic tissue-engineered skin.
