TLDR Finger length ratio is not linked to hirsutism or hormone levels.
The study, conducted 6 years ago, involved 50 female patients suffering from hirsutism and 30 healthy individuals of matched age. The research aimed to assess the correlation between the second to fourth digit length ratio and hirsutism, along with its correspondence with the hormonal profile. The results indicated that patients with hirsutism had significantly higher levels of Prolactin and DHEA-S hormones compared to the control group. However, there was no significant correlation found between the second to fourth digit ratio and all the laboratory investigations in both hands. The study concluded that the assessment of hirsutism is multifactorial and that the 2D:4D ratio could be a promising tool in diagnosing hirsutism and assessing its severity.
