Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is a condition where a blood clot forms in a vein, often in the deep veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis or DVT), and can travel to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism (PE). This can lead to serious complications, including restricted blood flow, damage to the lungs, and even death if not treated promptly.
