    GlossaryUltraviolet B (UVB irradiation)

type of ultraviolet radiation that causes sunburn and vitamin D production

Ultraviolet B (UVB) is a type of ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths between 280 and 315 nanometers. It is responsible for producing vitamin D in the skin but can also cause sunburn and contribute to skin cancer. In medical treatments, UVB light therapy is used to manage conditions like psoriasis and vitiligo by reducing inflammation and slowing down the overproduction of skin cells.
