inhibit fungal cell membrane synthesis by targeting specific enzymes

Triazole antifungals are a class of medications used to treat fungal infections. They work by inhibiting an enzyme called lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is crucial for the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens the fungal cell membrane, leading to the death of the fungus. Common examples include fluconazole and itraconazole.
