February 2014 in “General and Comparative Endocrinology” Finasteride affects frog testes by increasing testosterone, decreasing 5α-DHT, and impacting genes related to reproduction and other functions.
February 2026 in “Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology” July 2024 in “Journal of Investigative Dermatology” This study investigates the molecular mechanisms of wound healing by comparing transcriptomic profiles of acute and chronic wounds in cultured human skin. Key findings include differential expression of genes like FGF7, MMP10, and osteopontin (SPP1) between acute and chronic wounds. Notably, MMP10-neutralizing antibody increased wound healing in acute wounds, while recombinant FGF7 alone had no effect. However, their combined application enhanced re-epithelization in both wound types. Additionally, the osteopontin-derived peptide FOL005 significantly promoted skin re-epithelization under both conditions. The study suggests that combined therapeutic targeting, including the use of FOL005, may improve treatment of unresolved wounds.
