The Stratum Spinosum, also known as the spinous layer or prickle cell layer, is a layer of the epidermis located just above the Stratum Basale. It consists of several layers of keratinocytes that are connected by desmosomes, which give the cells a spiny appearance under a microscope. This layer plays a crucial role in providing strength and flexibility to the skin.
