male reproductive cells responsible for fertilizing female eggs

Spermatozoa, commonly known as sperm cells, are the male reproductive cells responsible for fertilizing the female egg (ovum) during sexual reproduction. Each spermatozoon is highly specialized, featuring a head that contains genetic material (DNA), a midpiece packed with energy-producing mitochondria, and a tail (flagellum) that propels the cell forward.
