August 2024 in “Cosmetics” A 12-week double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving 66 women working outdoors in urban areas with high pollution levels demonstrated that a daily 250 mg oral supplementation of a botanical extract blend significantly improved skin and scalp health. The study showed enhancements in skin antioxidant status, moisturization, radiance, and reduced wrinkle depth, dark spot pigmentation, and oiliness. Scalp health also improved with increased moisturization, decreased transepidermal water loss, and reduced sebum content. Additionally, 71% of participants with sensitive scalps experienced reduced redness. These results suggest that the botanical blend effectively mitigates skin and scalp damage caused by environmental pollution.
