Using a mouse model of liver cirrhosis induced by CCl4, the research shows that ECM1-HF-MSCs improve liver function and reduce liver injury more effectively than naïve HF-MSCs. These modified cells migrate to the liver, express hepatocyte-specific markers, and significantly inhibit hepatic stellate cell activation. The findings suggest that ECM1-HF-MSCs offer a promising therapeutic approach for liver cirrhosis through genetic modification.
