    process of calming or inducing sleep with medication

    Sedation is the process of administering medication to calm a patient or make them sleep, often used during medical procedures to reduce anxiety, discomfort, or pain. It can range from minimal sedation, where the patient is relaxed but awake, to deep sedation, where the patient is on the edge of consciousness but can still be awakened.
