    surgical removal of both ovaries

A Bilateral Oophorectomy is a surgical procedure in which both ovaries are removed. This operation is often performed to treat or prevent conditions such as ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or severe pelvic inflammatory disease. Removing both ovaries results in immediate menopause, as the body no longer produces the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
