    Glossarypull test

diagnostic method to assess hair shedding severity

The pull test is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate hair loss. During the test, a doctor gently tugs on a small cluster of hairs (usually around 40-60) to see how many come out. If more than a few hairs are easily pulled out, it may indicate active hair shedding or an underlying condition such as telogen effluvium or alopecia areata.
