The nanoparticles, with a size of 137.8 ± 0.814 nm and an encapsulation efficiency of 43%, showed no aggregation in aqueous conditions at 1% w/v MXD concentration without ethanol and propylene glycol. In human follicular dermal papilla cells, the nanoparticles demonstrated fast cellular uptake and no significant toxicity. When applied to the skin of shaved mice, the nanoparticles penetrated efficiently and promoted hair regrowth over three weeks, comparable to traditional MXD formulas. These findings suggest that MXD-DE-NPs are a promising carrier for MXD in treating hair loss.
