This study involving 60 patients compared the efficacy of PRP combined with microneedling versus PRP alone in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The microneedling group showed a significantly higher increase in mean hair count (24.53% vs. 17.88%, p = 0.011) and a greater proportion of patients achieving a negative hair-pull test (82.1% vs. 51.9%). Patients in the microneedling group also reported better perceptions of hair loss improvement and experienced less pain. The study concluded that PRP with microneedling is more effective than PRP alone for AGA up to Hamilton-Norwood grade 4, with no notable side effects, and suggested the need for further large-scale studies to confirm these findings.
