low white blood cell count weakens the immune system

Leukopenia, also known as low white blood cell count, is a condition where the number of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the blood is lower than normal. This can weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to infections. Causes of leukopenia can include certain medications, autoimmune disorders, bone marrow problems, and diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
