Hair follicles were treated with various concentrations of diammonium glycyrrhizinate for 10 days. The results showed that only the 0.01 μmol/L concentration significantly promoted hair follicle growth compared to the control group, delaying the transition to the catagen phase. This concentration also increased the proliferation of hair matrix cells, as indicated by a higher number of ki67-positive cells. The expression of β-catenin, p-GSK3β, and Lef1 was significantly higher in the 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 μmol/L groups, suggesting that the hair growth-promoting effects might be linked to the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
